Cortland is the current President & CEO of Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, Inc. a 501(c)(3) non-profit professional society focused on LGBTQ people in the STEM community. With more than 75 student chapters at colleges/universities and professional chapters in cities across the United States and abroad, oSTEM is the largest chapter-based organization focused on LGBTQ people in STEM.
Outside of oSTEM, Cortland is the Southeast US Employee Engagement Lead and Former Global LGBT Program Manager at Accenture, a leading multinational management consulting, technology, and outsourcing firm.
Cortland holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Florida where he founded the UF oSTEM Chapter, served on the Presidential LGBTQ Concerns Committee adding “gender identity” and “gender expression” to UF’s non-discrimination policy, and was the Senior Ambassador for LGBTQ Affairs. For fun, Cortland enjoys exploring Atlanta, being outdoors, and trying new restaurants.
